The OAG, the the UK based aviation data monitor, released a press with a study that determines the most punctual airport in the World, and the most punctual airlines.
Surprising the first place on the list is taken by the small Hub of Bristol in the UK. The Hub hosts flights in Europe and Africa and has the 94.4 % of the flights arrived within 15 minutes from the scheduled time, making it the most punctual airport in the World.
The first airport from London to top the rank is Luton, among the first 10 but far away from the performance of the best airport. The second place is taken by the Brussels South Charleroi Airport at 93.1% (Ryanair flies also from here) and Berlin Schoenefeld at 92.3% of scheduled flights.
Atlanta is the most busiest airline in the World, but ranks only 12th while Dubai is 14th. If we look at the largest Hub then germans confirms their leadership in punctuality, with Munich Airport the most punctual at 89% of flights arrived in time. Tokyo and Seattle follow the German Hub.
Surprises also in the airlines companies, with Latvia’s airBaltic outperforming all others at 94.9%. Second Hawaiian Airlines at 92.3% and third Austrian Airlines at 90%.
These are the others airlines companies in the rank :
- Austrian Airlines (90.0 %)
- Iberia (89.7%)
- KLM (89.4%)
- Saudi Arabian Airlines (89.4%)
- SAS (89.1%)
- Japan Airlines (88.8%)
- Finnair (88.6)
- Alaska Airlines (88.5%).
Finally, the Norwegian Air Shuttle was named the most punctual low-cost carrier, with almost nine out of 10 flights sticking to schedule. Followed by the asian Thai AirAsia and EasyJet.
So, as recap, if you are flying in Europe and need to be on time the best solution would be to take a plane from Air Baltic in Bristol 😀
